Matt & Kristen’s Wedding- Vereinigung Erzgebirge – 5.30.09

8 07 2009

Back in May I had the pleasure of photographing Matt & Kristen’s wedding in Southampton, PA. They decided to have their ceremony at the Old Southampton Baptist Church. It is the oldest Baptist Church in Bucks County, PA built in 1814. As you will see it has a lot of character compared to some of the newer churches in the area so it was a great choice.

We had quite a bit of time before the ceremony started so we were able to get both of them outside around the grounds for some portraits.

The groom had an awesome sushi cake. The bride actually made the decorations on top out of cupcakes and other handmade items.

Matt & Kristen were such a fun couple to work with! I wish them the best of luck in their new adventures as husband and wife!

Liz & Dan 11.8.08 St. Dorothy Church & Spring Haven Country Club

8 01 2009

Liz and Dan got married back in November at the absolutely gorgeous St. Dorothy Parish in Drexel Hill, PA. The eggshell blue wall and brown and teal tiles behind the alter were so colorful and made a great backdrop for pictures during the ceremony. The day started at Liz’s parents house just a few minutes down the street from the church. I was able to get lots of detail pictures while the girls hung out down stairs having drinks and relaxing before it was time to get ready.

Finally it was time for Liz to start getting ready. I teary eyed mom helped lace her into her dress and get her garter belt on. Liz’s jewlery came from her grandmom who was unable to attend the wedding due to an illness.

Thankfully the rain stopped and the sun started to come out just as the ceremony ended..

Bubbles are always a good alternative to throwing bird seed at the bride and groom…

After the ceremony we headed over to the Spring Haven Country Club for some group photos before the reception. Even though the rain had stopped there were still quite a few very large black clouds looming overhead. We were only able to take Liz & Dan out on the golf course for a few quick shots by the fountain before it started to rain again. Thankfully they had a large patio with nice landscaping to use as a backdrop for the group and family photos.

After the family photos we hopped on the Trolley they rented from Philadelphia Trolley Works to make a very special trip. As I mentioned Liz’s grandmother was unable to attend the wedding due to illness so since she couldn’t come to the wedding we brought the wedding to her!! It was a very proud day for her grandmom getting to parade Liz around the nursing home dining room in her wedding gown. I’m pretty sure she was the envy of all the residents that day! We headed into the little chapel they had there to do a few family photos with grandmom who couldn’t resist checking out the jewelry Liz was wearing that once belonged to her.

After our visit to see grandmom it was back to the country club to celebrate. Many wedding cakes you see now a days are covered in fondant that is colored to look like chocolate…not this cake!!! Everything you see is pure chocolate. It smelled absolutely amazing!

Photobucket

Another unique thing I noticed at the reception were the table numbers. Instead of doing your run of the mill card with a number on it every table had a sign with a year on it. Under the year was a picture of both the bride and groom from that year. They started with baby pictures and worked all the way up to photos from that summer. I don’t know about the guests by I certainly enjoyed going from table to table to check each one out.

And now for the party…

Katie & Tom 10.11.08 Pearl S. Buck House

10 11 2008

After a long string of rainy Saturday weddings Tom & Katie were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day! They had both their ceremony and reception at the Pearl S. Buck House in Perkasie. Tom & Katie made the decision to see each other before the ceremony which as you can see below gives the couple a chance to see and interact with each other for the first time in a much more intimate setting. And without further delay the pictures..

Jon & Anna’s Wedding 9.27.08 Peddlers Village

12 10 2008

Two Saturday’s ago Jon and Anna became husband and wife at the Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Doylestown. While the weather started out a bit rainy that day it cleared up just in time to head across the street to the church’s prayer garden for some family photos. After the prayer garden the bridal party along with myself and my assistant hopped onto the trolley car to take a ride through downtown Doylestown and past their photography gallery Main Street Gallery on our way to Peddlers Village for the reception which was held at the Cock n’ Bull Restaurant. As I learned during our photo session before the reception Peddler’s Village is a very special place for Jon and Anna as that is where they met while Anna was working in the book store there. They were a wonderful and fun couple to work with who obviously have a lot of love for each other. Keep scrolling for some of the photos from their day.

Bryan & Kelly’s Wedding 9.20.08 Hotel Fiesole

29 09 2008

Last Saturday Bryan & Kelly had a very small intimate wedding at the Hotel Fiesole in Skippack, PA. There were only about 50-60 people in attendance consisting of their closest friends and family. I must thank everyone for their patience as I was recovering from my mouth surgery and wasn’t supposed to be talking. It made things a bit interesting as it came time to do a group shot of everyone who attended! Thankfully the grooms dad hopped down front and assisted in getting everyone in place. Be sure to check out Kelly’s super cute shoes with the red hearts on the bottom as if I expected anything less having seen her choice of shoes on the other days we met…if I didn’t think I would break an ankle I would have tried to sneak those home with me! Congratulations to both of you, you were an amazing and fun couple to work with! And now for some pictures…

Anthony & Jeanette’s Wedding 9.06.08 Bear Creek Mountain Resort

12 09 2008

Last Saturday was Anthony & Jeanette’s wedding at Bear Creek Mountain Resort formerly known as Doe Mountain. Due to Hurricane Hanna everything had to be moved inside but thankfully Bear Creek has a very nice banquet facility and we were still able to get some great photos.

Jon & Anna’s Engagement Session

4 08 2008

It seems like every year I go to Cape May on vacation I end up starting the week off with a photo shoot…why should this year be any different. Jon & Anna both have a lot of love for Cape May, they have family there, they got engaged there so why not do their engagement photos there too. First we headed over to Cape May Winery & Vinyard where we sampled a few wines and started our photo session.

Photobucket

Photobucket

After stopping for a dinner break we were off to one of my favorite hotels in Cape May…Congress Hall where we now had that fabulous golden light from the setting sun.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

What would an engagement session at the beach be without a few pictures in the sand.
Photobucket

To our amusement as we were walking down the beach towards our car we saw not one, not two but THREE different families with THREE different photographers all lined up doing their “Family Beach Portraits”. I won’t deny that the white sandy beach, vibrant green dunes with the bright blue sky in the background looks gorgeous at sunset (why do you think we were out there) but you can’t help but giggle at the sight of 3 families all dressed alike in their matching white, khakki & navy outfits lined up down the beach getting their yearly family beach portrait done!!
Photobucket

Finally, Cape May is unique from the other beaches that run along the Jersey coast because it has Sunset Beach which is on the edge of the Delaware Bay and faces the west which means beautiful sunsets!!

Tom & Katie’s Engagement Session

21 07 2008

Sunday Tom, Katie & I traveled out to Washington’s Crossing Historic Park along the Delaware River to do their engagement session. I haven’t been to Washington’s Crossing for quite a few years now and last time I was there it was for a very long run up the canal path, through the botanical nature preserve and to the top of the hill/mountain (not really sure what it is called) where Bowman’s Hill Tower sits and back. Now that I was not delirious from running I was able to appreciate how beautiful an area Washington’s Crossing is. All of the original houses that George Washington and his men built when they crossed the Delaware back in 1776 still stand undisturbed. Thankfully though the sound of Cannon’s firing has been replaced with the sound of cars passing over the metal bridge to NJ and kids laughing as they kick on their brightly colored tubes down the river to stay cool. I would hate to have to dodge cannon balls to take engagement photos! For more information on Washington’s Crossing Historic Park go HERE. Scroll below for Tom & Katie’s engagement photos.

And finally…I’m not really sure what was so funny but they were cracking up!!

Mindie & Georges Wedding

22 06 2008

If you had told me that it was going to be 100+ degrees for my first wedding of the year at the beginning of June I would have called you a liar. I would have been wrong! On the way to Mindie & Georges wedding my car thermometer hit 104 degrees and the whole area went under extreme heat advisories. Needless to say we were not going to drag a bride in a heavy dress and a groom in a dark brown tux plus an entire wedding party out in that kind of heat. They were all good sports though as we found areas in the nice cool AC to do their pictures. Here are a couple from their big day!

Here is Mindie looking beautiful on her wedding day!
Photobucket

Unfortunately a very important lesson was learned this day…order a cake without icing! I will be nice and not post the photo of Mindie covered in icing.
